Creamy Sun-Dried Tomato Butter Beans and Cinnamon Swirl Sheet Pan Pancakes
Also known as DTR Butter Beans and Cake For Breakfast. Plus vegan NYC recs!
Hey hi hello to our little sourdough starters. Today we have a weekend update with our must-visit NYC restaurants PLUS two new recipes with TV show pairings. Let us be your couch sommelier.
The Best NYC Eats
We visited our cousin Rose (sometimes known as Baby) and hit up most of our favorite Manhattan spots in just over 24 hours. When you have to ride the LIRR there and back, you make the most of your time.
THE reason we go into the city (Rose knows) is Oslo Coffee. It’s simply the best coffee we’ve ever had and we’ve had A LOT - just check my credit card bill. We all got iced americanos and rode that high for as long as possible. The baristas are all rockstar-type-hot and are not particularly friendly but give you just enough human decency to keep you coming back.
We witnessed one customer get his coffee, pause in the middle of the shop (it’s tiny), take a sip (all eyes on him), and exclaim “oh, fuck yeah” before walking out. That’s what Oslo coffee will do to you.
Other vegan spots we went to:
Jajaja Mexicana: We don’t go into NYC without getting the pineapple y mezcal drink and the nachos.
Willow: The French Dip sandwich, WOW. Stay tuned for a recreation because it was insane. Also the banana pudding - I am a banana pudding person through and through.
Orchard Grocer: I would walk 500 miles for The Miles croissant breakfast sandwich. But it’s 2024 and we got it delivered.
Spicy Moon: Not a day goes by that I don’t crave the dan dan noodles.
Is it embarrassing or impressive that we got all of this done? That’s for you to decide. Here’s our full list of NYC recs if you trust our palettes.
Hopefully you do trust our palettes because our job is literally to make recipes for you even though you aren’t paying us, but don’t worry we handle that on the back end. Have you seen Money Heist? Anyway, let’s talk BEANS.
Creamy Sun-Dried Tomato Butter Beans
These creamy butter beans are the latest recipe from our blog. We like to call them DTR Butter Beans. You’ve seen the “marry me” recipes going around, where you make someone really good chicken and then they propose to you. Well, raw chicken is kind of scary and I don’t want a proposal (literally no one has even thought about proposing to me.) I just want butter beans and someone to define the relationship.
This recipe has quickly become a go-to dinner for us. It comes together in less than 30 minutes, come at me Rachael Ray. These creamy beans are best enjoyed while watching a good European Netflix thriller, like Fool Me Once or A Nearly Normal Family.
Cinnamon Swirl Sheet Pan Pancakes
The other recipe we don’t want you to miss is our Cinnamon Swirl Sheet Pan Pancakes. They’re fluffy and delicious and require no standing over the stove. Forget the flick of the wrist, you can just pour the batter into a *sheet pan* and enjoy as if it’s cake. But it’s breakfast. We HIGHLY recommend making these on a weekend morning and watching Love Island UK (currently watching All Stars) or Love is Blind (Season 6 has been slapping).
Finally, welcome to our new subscribers who love farfalline as much as the rest of this group! Thank you all for reading NTS and staying with us even when things get weird. See you next week for a fun recipe and hot takes on dating.
