Hot Honey Chicken Caesar Chopped Sandwich
And welcome to Aries season where everyone is on fire and nothing matters
You know that day in the year where you flip from hot coffee to iced coffee and never look back - well that just happened. The weather tricked me by hitting the upper 60s and then dropping back to 35 degrees this week but once you switch, that’s it. It’s called discipline, it’s called commitment. Why am I telling you this? I don’t know, I needed to start the newsletter and this has been top of mind for me. OH it just came to me - it’s Aries season which is the start of the Astrological New Year or for the mere mortals reading this (love you all) … it’s SPRING baby. Spring is the official start of iced coffee season.
There is nothing more electric than the first nice day after winter. If you’re in NYC, you know this energy is intoxicating. Seasonal depression has lifted and everyone hits the streets with a smile (or just a neutral expression). It’s pure joy. This is a perfect example of what Aries season is all about. It’s new beginnings, fiery energy, and confidence. It’s the time to get shit going, start your passion projects, take risks, and live life with zero fucks (very Aries of me to cuss a little).
Today we have a discussion on passion, our astrological new year resolutions, and an exclusive Aries recipe for you!
MORE PASSION, MORE ENERGY
Not to get sentimental because apparently I have a cold heart (direct quote from my ex), but watching someone do what they love can be really moving. It’s like a vortex of high frequency energy funneling out through the person. It’s magnetic, mesmerizing, and extremely motivating.
It’s the flow state we’ve all experienced while doing something we love - time seems to pause and you get a break from the usual incessant chatter in your head. You become very present and can escape your external worries for a delightful moment.
Here are some recent examples we’ve come across:
Venice Beach Skate Park (omg you went to LA once, we get it)- I could watch them skate all day, and no I’m not a creep. They’re doing what they love and you can tell. It’s playful, child-like energy, which is fun to witness. Also, everyone on a skateboard suddenly becomes hot?
Art Gallery - I saw my favorite artist Celia Lees display her work at the Sugar Lift Gallery in NYC. The collection is called LOVE LANGUAGES. To start, art is unique because you’re experiencing another person’s emotions through color, so that alone will get me. You can feel the pure intention behind the work and can tell the artist found their flow state. The essence of tapping into your purpose lingers in the room.
Music - We recently watched our friend perform his original songs in NYC for the first time (shoutout X You Pod) and it was so fun and inspiring to see someone crushing their passion. You could feel the uplifting energy. The same thing happens at concerts when the whole crowd is simultaneously connecting with the artist’s work. At Fred Again.. the entire stadium was singing “Baby then you, put your loving arms around me” and swaying together. It was group therapy. MUSIC IS MY RELIGION.
Aries New Years Goals
If you hate New Years or you already forgot your resolution, you can try again now when the planets are on your side instead of whoever invented the calendar year. Or you don’t have to but here are some of our goals for inspo…
Eat more pizza while watching the sun set
Date people with a bed frame
Now that I think about it, get yourself a bed frame and move out of your parents house
Do more things that put you in that flow state
Try to get rejected as many times as possible so that you become unafraid of it aka rejection therapy aka I already know I’m not going to do this
If you say “um” one more time before you speak…
Do 10 pushups (you’ve been going to the gym for how long??)
Learn more line dances, yes I already have one under my belt
Eat more potatoes and seasoned rice
Stop holding back compliments - if you think it, say it. In turn you’ll receive more so is this narcissistic? Maybe, but it’s a win win
Hot Honey Chicken Caesar Chopped Sandwich
You could say I’m in a flow state when I’m chopping up all the ingredients for this hot honey chicken sandwich. There’s nothing quite like it. It invokes Aries energy by being spicy, high in protein, and overall, very satiating. It’s important for Aries to fuel its high energy through regular mealtimes and a good balance of carbs, protein, and fat. Enter, mega sandwich. Watch us make it HERE.
Recipe
Ingredients:
Romaine Lettuce
Red Onion, sliced
Pickles
Gardein Ultimate Chick’n filets, follow instructions on package to cook
Capers
Caesar Dressing - vegan caesar recipe here
Vegan Parmesan - we used Trader Joe’s brand
Garlic Bread
1/4 cup butter, softened
Head of garlic, roasted
Parsley
Vegan Parmesan
Bakery bread
Hot Honey
1/4 cup honey
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Splash Apple Cider Vinegar
Method
Roast the Garlic: Preheat oven to 425. Slice off the top of the head of garlic. Drizzle it in olive oil and wrap the bottom in foil. Bake for 35-45 minutes, until garlic cloves are browned.
Make the Garlic Bread: In a small bowl squeeze out the roasted garlic, add the softened butter, a sprinkle of parsley, and parmesan cheese. Use a fork to mash it all together. Cut your sandwich bread and use your fingers to scrape out the inside bread part. Spread the garlic butter all over both sides. Broil the bread for 1-2 minutes. Watch it carefully so it doesn’t burn.
Make the Hot Honey: In a small saucepan heat the honey and red pepper flakes on low until the honey starts to bubble. Turn off the heat and mix in the apple cider vinegar.
Chop the sandwich ingredients: On a large cutting board add the romaine lettuce, red onion, pickles, Gardein Chick’n, drizzle of hot honey, capers, caesar dressing, and vegan parmesan. Roughly chop everything together until it is bite-sized and fully combined.
Put it all together: Add the chopped ingredients into each side of the garlic sandwich bread. Carefully combine the sides. Crack open an Olipop Cherry Vanilla and enjoy!
Oh to be a sandwich! Have a great weekend and let us know if you hit that flow state! We will be frolicking in the city with an iced coffee and attending a concert- our true passions. See you next week for what? I don’t know yet but I’m sure it’ll be good.
