Priceless things I love and a Sesame Ginger Crunch Salad
the best thing to bring to a summer bbq
Hi. In today’s letter we have:
a list of things I’m loving lately that don’t require purchasing anything (anyone else feel sick from Amazon Prime Day??! I didn’t even buy anything except for the few items I bought)
SESAME GINGER CRUNCH SALAD that you should take to your next bbq and impress everyone with
Things I’ve Been Loving Lately:
Zach Bryan’s new album - I’ve said it before but I haven’t really meant it until now, I need this album injected into my veins
Making fun cocktails every Thursday night - just don’t be like me and drop your full glass of a Lemon Drop Martini so it shatters by the pool
“I have enough” as an affirmation to (lemon) drop into the present moment and stop future tripping. With a slight change you can say “I’ve had enough” and yell it at everyone!! It will have the opposite effect.
Working out based on my Mars signs - Mars rules action and physicality and I definitely need to take up boxing (Mars in Aries) so who wants to be punched
Complimenting girls at the gym - this one girl had a sick leg tatt so I told her and then felt great about myself!!!!
Watching movies that I should have definitely seen by now but somehow haven’t - most recently, Jaws and The Shawshank Redemption
Eating dinner earlier - 6:30pm seems to be the best we can do but it’s nice
Rubbing a frozen cucumber on my face in the morning - it’s like ice rolling but with extra cucumber benefits and feels like you’re holding a pen15 (great show)
Working out in late luteal - not for everyone but I was previously listening to advice that said not to and I felt terrible, so listen to yourself!
Falling asleep in the sun - IT FEELS SO NICE
Recording voice memos talking to myself on walks - it’s like self therapy or journaling for yappers (if you see me talking on my walks, I’m on the phone)
Making brown sugar shaken espressos no matter the time of day - shake Cometeer (basically an espresso shot), brown sugar, TJ’s vanilla bean paste and a handful of ice in a mason jar until it’s frothy, then add soy or oat milk
Reading Ghosts by Dolly Alderton - get it from your library, it is girlhood in book form
High frequency music - it doesn’t replace Charli or Zach but I’ll mix it in as background music or when I’m in the sauna
Playing backgammon and card games - I haven’t actually played backgammon yet but I have this really weird urge to?? We have been playing blackjack instead of being on our phones (I’m better than all of you). GAMES ARE FUN, bring them back.
Comment things you’ve been loving - don’t gate keep. Also, comment your Mars sign and we’ll tell you about your workout style.
The Best Summer Salad
Onto something else we’ve been loving, which is our Sesame Ginger Crunch Salad. We wanted to create something that would the perfect thing to bring to summer parties/ bbqs and somehow we landed on a huge bowl of CABBAGE so hopefully everyone is ready to increase their fiber intake.
For real, the salad is delicious - all the vegetables are chopped thin and then dressed in a creamy miso ginger dressing that will have you drinking from the bowl by the end. The little sesame sticks on top are addicting.
It’s easy to make in advance, just wait to dress it until 10-15 minutes before serving. We found that that’s the sweet spot where the cabbage softens and everything soaks up the savory miso flavor. It continues to get more flavorful as it sits in the dressing. It will be softer and therefore easier to eat A LOT OF.
Bring this to your next bbq and crunch away near someone with misophonia. We’re going back to the Hamptons this weekend solely to get the burrito from La Fondita and learn the Apple dance (why can’t we do that here, idk).
